2 killed, 24 injured as truck hits pickup van in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Dharamgarh: In a tragic incident, at least two persons died and 24 others sustained injuries after a truck collided head-on with a pickup van carrying members of a wedding band party on NH-26 near Kalopala Chhak under Junagarh block in Odisha’s Kalahandi district early this morning.

According to reports, the road mishap took place while the ill-fated pickup van was heading towards Mukhiguda carrying the band party members from Junagarh.

While two of them died on the spot under the impact of the collision, the injured ones were rescued by police and rushed to the Junagarh hospital. Five of them were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital as their condition deteriorated.

One of the deceased has been identified as G Chandi (50) of Mahipani village near Mukhiguda. Police have started investigation into the incident.
