82.56% students clear annual HSC exams in Odisha

A total of 82.56 percent of students successfully cleared the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations in Odisha this year. The results of which were announced by the School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra at the head office of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) here today.

Out of a total of 5,49,374 students who had appeared in the examinations, 4,51,959 have passed the examinations with an overall pass result of 82.56%.

Out of the pass students, 1473 students have secured A1 grade securing more than 90% of marks.

Besides 16,021 students have secured A2 grade (between 80 and 89% marks), 46,688 students have secured B1 grade (between 70 and 79% marks), 43,194 have secured B2 grade (between 60 and 69% marks), 1,10,337 C grade (between 50 and 59% marks), 1,21,292 D grade (between 40 and 49% marks), 72,954 E grade (between 33 and 39% marks) and 39,473 students securing less than 33% marks have secured F grade.

Percentage wise, there has been a rise in the number of students securing more than 60 percent marks (25.98%) in this year’s examination as compared to last year’s examinations (20.97%).

In terms of district-wise pass percentage, districts where more than 10,000 students had appeared the examinations, Baleswar district has topped the list with 91.58 percent while Bargarh district has the lowest percentage with 72.15.

Besides, districts where less than 10,000 students had appeared the examinations, Deogarh district has topped the list with 93.70 percent while Malkangiri district has the lowest percentage with 60.

This apart, nine districts where the pass percentage is less than the state average (82.56%) are Puri (73.60), Khordha (77.27), Nayagarh (78.30), Ganjam (78.95), Kandhamal (75.80), Bargarh (70.20), Sambalpur (74.80), Sonepur (73.80) and Malkangiri (60).

The results would be available in the BSE website www.bseodisha.nic.in after 2 PM. The results will also be available in other websites such as www.prestigeresult.in , www.knowyourresult.com , www.indiaresult.com , www.exametc.com , www.bharatstudent.com and www.jagranjosh.com . Besides, the students can also know their results through SMS to ORI10Roll Number and send it with the number 58888, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said.

“We have tried our best to come up with zero error results this year. In case any student feels there is error in his/her result, he/she can contact the two help line numbers of the Board—0671-2412059/2412060 or through the school help line number 18003456722 between 10.30 AM to 5 PM. We would immediately verify the answer sheets and do the needful,” Nanda told the media.

The Board has made arrangements to despatch the original certificates, migration certificates etc of the students to their respective schools by May 15.

He said the Board would upload the results of the objective OMR sheets on one or two websites to enable the students to download their OMR papers for cross-checking. “We would inform the students about the date of uploading and the website on which it would be uploaded through the media,” he added.

He also said considering the difficulties faced by the students at the time of applying for revision of their subjective mark sheets and depositing fee at the Board or zonal offices, the Board has decided to open a site online after May 12 and inform the students in advance through the media so that the students will apply for re-addition online and we would provide them the scanned copy of the xerox sheets they have applied for through their e-mail id.

The BSE president also informed that the Board would begin the process for the HSC supplementary examinations from June first week. The Board would announce the detailed programme of the examination in the media.

A total of 5,78, 244 Regular and Ex-Regular (New) candidates in 2799 centres, 9620 Old Ex-Regular candidates in 84 nodal centres and 5, 788 Madhyama (Sanskrit Toll) candidates in 50 centres had appeared in the examinations this year of which 1956 Regular and Ex-Regular (New) candidates and 654 Old Ex-Regular and Madhyama candidates were booked for malpractice.
