Over 92, 000 appear in Odisha Civil Service Prelim exam

As many as 92,695 candidates took the written test for Odisha Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2015, conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), today at 162 centres across five zonal centres in the state.

The examination was conducted in two sittings for two hours duration each: the first sitting from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and the second sitting from 2 pm to 4 pm.

As per the notification published by OPSC earlier, the examination was held at five Zonal Centres across the state. The centres are: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Baleswar, Brahmapur and Sambalpur.

It may be mentioned that the Preliminary Examination shall consist of two papers–Paper-I and Paper-II (General Studies) — of objective type questions. Each paper shall be of two hours durationand will carry 200 marks each.

Candidates, who will qualify in the Preliminary Examination, shall be called by the Commission, to appear in the Main Examination. The qualifying marks in the Preliminary Examination shall be such as may be fixed by the Commission. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination shall not be counted for ranking.

In the Preliminary Examination, candidates shall be awarded marks for correct response of each question. One-fourth marks assigned to that question shall be deducted for indicating incorrect response to each question, but no deduction from the total score shall be made if no response is indicated for a question in the answer sheet. There shall be four responses in each question to be answered and only one correct response shall be made to that. More than one response in any question shall be treated as wrong response and marks for such wrong response shall be deducted if one of the responses happened to be an incorrect response.
