Rainfall activities, Heat Wave conditions very likely in Odisha districts on May 1

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent North-westerly and Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, rainfall activities, and heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha on May 1, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day hours between 11.00 AM and 3.00 PM. No large change was predicted in the maximum (day) temperature for the next four to five days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed appreciable rise at a few places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at one or two places over the districts of Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

The highest maximum temperature of 44.8°C was recorded yesterday at Baripada. The lowest minimum temperature of 23.0°C was recorded at Angul in the plains of Odisha.

Light rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Puri and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Red Warning: (Be Alert)-

Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Subarnapur, and Boudh.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)-

Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, and Rayagada.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Koraput, and Puri.

For Wednesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.05.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 02.05.2024)

Light rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, and Boudh.

Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Subarnapur, Nuapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Malkangiri.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, and Rayagada.
