Banks in these areas of Odisha asked to reschedule working hours

Bhubaneswar: At a time when the Odisha government imposed a lockdown in four districts and one municipal corporation to contain the spread of COVID-19, banks in these areas were today directed to reschedule their working hours during the lockdown period.

In an order, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy asked the banks in Khordha, Ganjam, Cuttack and Jajpur districts and Rourkela Municipal Corporation to function from 8 AM to 2PM with effect from July 20 to July 31. Customer services at the banks will be from 8 AM to 1 PM.

Also, the banks were allowed to operate with 50% of their staff strength to avoid heavy rush in bank premises and ensure proper physical distancing.

The district administrations and local police will provide required support to the banks to ensure proper physical distancing where required, the order mentioned.

Earlier, on July 17, all banks in four districts and the RMC area were asked to operate during the lockdown period with 25% of their manpower for essential banking transactions.
