BMC checks up on 10 private hospitals in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: While there has been a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha Capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials today carried out surprise visits to 10 private hospitals in the city to check their adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary told mediapersons three teams of the civic body along with police and Health department officials have paid surprise visits to the city’s 10 private hospitals till yet.

After receiving the reports, action will be taken against the hospitals that did not adhere to the COVID-19 norms. If need arises, a show-cause notice will be issued the violators, the BMC Commissioner added.

On Wednesday, BMC officials sealed the Blue Wheel Hospital located in Mancheswar area in Bhubaneswar after 27 persons in the hospital tested positive for the deadly virus.

Though a show-cause notice was served to the Blue Wheel Hospital on the alleged violation of COVID-19 guidelines, the BMC is yet to receive any response from the private hospital, Chaudhary added.
