Body of missing minor girl found in Odisha

Rayagada, Feb 15:

Police today recovered the body of a six-year-old girl, who was missing since five days, from the river bank near Lachhuguda village under Doraguda village in Odisha’s Rayagada district.

Talking to OST, IIC of Doraguda police station Bijay Kumar Haiburu said the deceased Sabita Jhodia, daughter of Sada Jhodia of Lachhuguda village, had gone to attend a marriage ceremony in her village on February 10 wearing gold ornaments.

As she did not return to her house, the family members launched a serach for her. After failing to find her,  they lodged a complaint with the police.

Police, in course of investigation, detained three persons of the village—Loknath Jhodia, Jaysingh Jhodia and a woman— and recovered the body by digging up an area near the river bank area of the village today in the presence of the local magistrate.

The body was later taken to Tikiri Community Health Centre for post mortem.

“Police have detained the three persons. Investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the murder,” the IIC said.
