Brother-sister duo injured in fireworks explosion in Odisha

Balangir: Two kids, who happen to be siblings, suffered severe burn injuries in fireworks explosion at Routmunda village under Turekela Block here in the district.

The injured siblings were identified as Kabita Chhatria (5) and Ganesh Chhatria (3), children of Muniram Chhatria of Routmunda village.

The brother-sister duo was admitted to Turekela Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.

According to reports, there was a wedding event at Muniram’s neighbour last night and some fireworks were burst during the groom’s procession. In the morning, some children had dumped the unburst crackers lying on the road, near Muniram’s house.

The unburst fireworks came into notice of both little children in the morning. Unfortunately, the crackers exploded while they were playing with those.

The brother-sister duo sustained severe burn injuries on face, legs and hands.

They were rushed to the CHC in critical condition.
