Brown sugar worth Rs 5 lakh seized in Bhubaneswar; woman held

Bhubaneswar: The Excise officials today seized brown sugar worth around 5 lakh with the arrest of a woman for operating illegal narcotics trade here.

The woman was identified Sasmita Mohanty (19), wife of Satyajit Mohanty.

A team of excise sleuths nabbed the woman on charges of selling brown sugar at Bari area under Khandagiri police limits in Bhubaneswar. They seized brown sugar weighs 21 gram worth around Rs 5 lakh and Rs 5,000 cash from her possession.

A probe was initiated by the Khandagiri police to find any gang’s link with the woman in the illegal trade.
