Central University of Orissa closed sine die over student unrest

Koraput: The Central University of Orissa, Koraput was today closed sine die following agitation by students seeking fulfillment of their 35-point charter of demands.

The university authorities have also asked the students to vacate hostels. One platoon of police force has been deployed in the varsity campus.

“In view of chances of violence during the agitation by the students, the university was closed sine die to maintain discipline. Students have been asked to vacate the campus,” said vice chancellor Prof Sachidananda Mohanty.

The demands of the students include filling up of teachers’ vacancy, setting up of more departments, instruments for laboratory, more books for library, upgradation in hostel infrastructure, free wi-fi facility, auditorium, ATM facility in the campus.
