Centre increases rice quota for Odisha under NFSA

As per the demand of the Odisha government, the Centre has raised the monthly rice quota for the state under National Food Security Act (NFSA) retrospective from May this year.

In a letter to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday said that the allocation of rice and wheat has been revised from May, 2016 onwards in the ration as demanded by the state government.

“Earlier, Odisha was being allocated 133972 tons of rice and 35978 tons of wheat per month in the ratio of 78.81 : 21.18 which has now been revised to 145859 tons of rice and 24800 tons of wheat in the ratio of 85.47 : 14.53,” Paswan said in the letter.
