CM is accountable for all GA allotments, says Odisha Congress chief

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Dec 21:

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is directly responsible and accountable for the large number of allotment of plots by the General Administration (GA) department, since the department is under him, alleged newly appointed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan here today.

Harichandan has also raised questions over the delay in taking the decision on the task force report.

“If somebody has got a plot through illegal means, he or she has got it only because somebody has given it to him or her illegally. The Chief Minister has misused his official capacity and power for allocation of plots. It is only Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and none else who is morally and officially accountable and legally liable,” said Harichandan.

The BJD has predictably come out in defence of the Chief Minister saying there had been no irregular allotment of plots by the GA department which is under the GA department.

“Whatever irregularities in allotments that have come to the fore have happened in BDA, CDA and Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB), the irregularities were committed by these agencies after getting land from the GA department. The Chief Minister as the head has committed no irregularity by doing that,” said Samir Dash, BJD spokesperson, in reply to Harichandan’s allegations.
