Krupasindhu Sahu, a farmer of Nachhigan village of Krushnaprasad Panchayat under Niali police station in Cuttack district, was allegedly bumped off for exposing large scale corruption in the implementation of the BGREI scheme in the area.

The body of Sahu, who had sought information from the district agriculture officer (DEO) about the details of money and fertilizer utilized in the plantation of paddy saplings under the BGREI scheme through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, was found on January 31, five days after he went missing.

“We demand strong action not only against the killers and their arrest, but also against all those who had hatched the criminal conspiracy and had hired supari killers from outside for killing Krupasindhu Sahu, starting from government employees to the IIC of the police station,” said Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan speaking to newsmen here.

The BJD, on the other hand, has said that the Congress doesn’t seem to possess any specific facts on the murder, while ruling out involvement of its MLA.

“Nobody is above the law. Since it was a case of murder, all those involved in the conspiracy will be brought to book,” BJD spoeksperson Samir Dash said.

“There is no question of any cover up. Strong action will be taken against whoever is found to be guilty since it’s a case of murder,” he said. in his reaction to the PCC president’s charges.
