Congress calls for 12-hour Bandh in Odisha’s Bolangir following death threat to Saluja

Kantabanji: Nagar Congress Committee called for a 12-hour Bandh of the town in Bolangir district after senior party leader and Kantabanji MLA Santosh Singh Saluja faced a death threat today.

Accordingly, Congress will observe Bandh in Kantabanji town from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM tomorrow. “We will peacefully agitate demanding strong action against the wrongdoer(s) and also in protest against the death threat given to MLA Saluja,” some local leaders said.

Worth mentioning, panic gripped locals after a banner giving a death threat to the MLA surfaced earlier in the day. A white poster, which had the picture of an unidentified youth, claimed to eliminate the senior Congress leader in the next 15 days. It was put up outside a shop near Kantabanji girls’ high school.

Locals expressed their resentment at the distasteful act. “This is not acceptable in any civic society. Whoever has done it should be punished,” said resident Anil Kumar Pathak.

Meanwhile, police have seized the banner and launched a detailed probe.
