Construction company driver found murdered in Odisha capital

Commissionerate Police today recovered the body of a construction company driver from a rest house near the new terminal of Biju Patnaik International Airport in the Odisha capital.

The deceased, identified as Nilachal Mishra from Aska, was working as driver at Banamali Rout constructions, which has been awarded the contract for civil work in the airport.

Airfield police station staff, along with the scientific team, rushed to the spot after being informed by a supervisor of the construction company.

Nilachal was staying with one Mangal Dom from West Bengal, has been absconding since the incident, police said. Mangal’s absence has raised suspicion of his involvement in the crime.

The body of the deceased bore several injury marks near the abdomen while his left leg has been fractured. Two iron rods and a wooden plank have been seized from the spot. Preliminary investigation reveals that Nilachal might have been murdered, police said.

Airfield police station IIC RR Sahu said investigation is on and West Bengal police have been informed about the murder. “We have urged them to trace the whereabouts of the suspect, a security guard with a private company,” he said.

The incident might have occurred on the nigh of 31st December, police sources added.
