Cop found hanging in his room in Odisha’s Sundargarh

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Inspector posted at NTPC, Darlipali project site in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, was found hanging in his room today morning.

The deceased identified as Binod Lakra (44) from Simdega, Jharkhand was posted as an Inspector with CISF at NTPC project site in Darlipali, Sundargarh since last eight months.

According to reports, Binod went to his barrack at around 8 am to take bath. However, he did not return since quite long time. When other staff went to his room to enquire about the delay, they found the room bolted from inside. They broke open the room when he did not respond to their repeated calls. They found him hanging from the ceiling in a rope.

“While he was on his duty before leaving for bath, he was quite normal and had talked with other colleagues,” a subordinate said.

Bhasma police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. His family members back in Rourkela were informed by the police.

Police suspect it to be a case of suicide and have registered an unnatural death (U/D) case. Police are now investigating the case.

“We suspect this is a case of suicide. We have registeried an unnatural death case and we are now investigating the case,” said AK Giri, IIC, Bhasma Police station, Sundargarh.
