Coronavirus hospital to come up at DRIEMS in Odisha

Cuttack: A government coronavirus hospital will be set up at DRIEMS, Tangi in Odisha’s Cuttack district. As many as 500 beds and 50 ICUs are being planned at the facility.

The entire campus having 4 boys hostels with 304 rooms, girls hostel with 130 rooms, academic block etc. will be used for this purpose. It shall have ward, ICUs, OPD counters, laboratories, laundries and accomodation for doctors and medical staff.

The work will be taken up by the Works Department and shall be completed in war footing basis. The district Collector has written to the DRIEMS authorities to hand over the entire campus to PWD today.

Notably, Odisha government has also planned to set up two Covid-19 hospitals which will have a combined capacity of 1,000 beds and will be functional within a fortnight. It has signed two tripartite agreements with SUM and KIMS medical colleges to set up the 1,000-bed state level hospitals in Bhubaneswar for treatment of Covid-19 patients.
