Cuttack Bali Jatra enters Guinness Book of World Records as over 22,000 paper boats made in 35 mins

Cuttack: The famous Cuttack Bali Jatra today etched its name in the Guinness Book of World Records at an event organised by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) at the fair.

More than 2100 students of 22 schools made over 22,000 paper boats in 35 minutes, creating the world record.

Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani, Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh, and around 50 officials of Guinness Book of World Records, including one from London, were present on the occasion.

The school students were earlier trained to make the paper boats for the world record attempt.

The aim of the move by the CMC was global recognition of the annual open trade fair on the Mahanadi river bank in the city.

The size and weight of the paper boats were prescribed by the authorities of Guinness Book of World Records.

The CMC had contacted the headquarters of the Guinness Book of World Records in London and received in reply a list of protocols for organising the event to attempt the record.
