Cyclone Yaas: Red Warning for 9 Odisha districts post landfall

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre here today issued Red Warning pertaining to heavy to very heavy rainfall in 9 districts of Odisha after Cyclone Yaas’ landfall in Balasore district.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy fall very likely to occur over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal,” the Meteorological Centre said and issued Red Warning for the districts.

Wind Warning:
* Gale wind speed reaching 130-140 kmph gusting 155 kmph is prevailing over Northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off north Odisha coast and adjoining West Bengal coast including Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts of Odisha.

* Squally wind speed reaching 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph would prevail over Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha till 26th May noon.

*  Gale wind speed reaching 60-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph would prevail over Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar districts of Odisha till 26th May noon.

* Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph would prevail over Khurda, Puri, Angul, Deogarh and Sundargarh districts of Odisha during the same period.
