Death of 2 patients sparks tension at Keonjhar DHH in Odisha

Keonjhar: Family members of two patients, who died at the District Headquarters Hospital in Odisha’s Keonjhar, created ruckus today alleging that medical negligence led to the deaths.

According to reports, one Khirodini Patra of Naranpur on the outskirts of Keonjhar town was admitted to the hospital last night due to illness. Her condition deteriorated early this morning, following which the concerned doctor directed hospital staffers to administer her oxygen.

However, no one turned up to administer oxygen to the woman. Later, she took her last breath.

Similarly, Janaki Patra of Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district was admitted to the DHH after she was bitten by a snake. She was administered an injection this morning. However, her family members alleged that her heart stopped beating after administration of the injection.

As tension ran high on the hospital premises, concerned authorities tried to pacify the kin of the deceased. On the other hand, the CDMO has formed a three-member committee to probe into the incident.
