Dense fog blankets Bhubaneswar, Cuttack; Rain forecast for several Odisha dists

Bhubaneswar: Dense fog engulfed Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities of Odisha this morning, affecting visibility and vehicular movement.

While the visibility was reduced to as low as around 50 metres at some places, commuters were seen driving vehicles at slower pace as a part of precautionary measure.

Conditions were similar in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Koraput, Rayagada and Khordha districts.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has forecasted that light to moderate rainfall activity is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha during January 11-14 due to anticipated approaching western disturbance towards eastern India and strong moisture incursion from Bay Bengal. The rainfall may commence from 10th January in some districts of western Odisha.

Day-wise forecast:

* Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Bargarh and at one or two places over the rest districts of interior Odisha and dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of coastal Odisha (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.01.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.01.2022).

* Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, and at few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorm accompanied with hail likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.01.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 12.01.2022).

* Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Angul, Boudh, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.01.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 13.01.2022).

* Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Kandhamal (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.01.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 14.01.2022).
