Farmer dies of electrocution in Odisha’s Sundergarh

Sundergarh: In an unfortunate incident, a farmer died of electrocution while ploughing his agriculture land near Sangogua village under Bonai police limits in Sundergarh district today.

The deceased has been identified as Shyamaghana Sahu.

Sources said Shyamaghana went to his farmland this morning for ploughing. Meantime, his ox came in contact with a live electric wire on the farmland. The farmer later went to save the cattle. However, both died of electrocution.

Tension prevailed in the area following his death as angry locals ransacked the Bonai electricity office holding the officials responsible for the mishap. Later, police personnel were deployed on the spot to take control of the situation.

Meanwhile, the irate locals have demanded compensation for family members of the deceased.
