Flood situation grim in Balasore’s Baliapal as 40,000 marooned

Balasore: Flood situation in Baliapal block of Odisha’s Balasore district has become severe marooning around 40,000 people of the area.

Residents of 45 villages of 12 panchayats in the block have been surrounded by flood water. The situation has deprived them of relief assistance, reports said.

On the other hand, flood water was flowing 4 feet above Baliapal-Kamarda road snapping road communication between the two areas.

Four blocks of Balasore– Baliapal, Bhograi, Jaleswar and Basta– have been affected by the flood. Excess water has inundated several low-lying areas of Bhograi and Baliapal blocks.

As per latest information, Subarnarekha river was flowing at 11.90 meters mark against danger level of 10.36 meters at Rajghat in the district at 11 AM.
