Former Uttar Pradesh CM Kalyan Singh passes away at 89

Lucknow/Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh died today evening while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Lucknow city. He was 89.

Singh, who was also former Rajasthan Governor, had been unwell for past few days. He was under treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) since July 4.

Hospital sources said Singh died due to sepsis and multi organ failure.

Singh was Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from June 1991 to December 1992 and September 1997 to November 1999.

He was appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan for five years in 2014.
