Four Odisha poachers land in jail for killing wild boar

Jajpur, Dec 1:

A court in Odisha’s district headquarters town of Jajpur Monday sent four poachers arrested on charges of killing a wild boar in the forest near Dankari village in the district to judicial custody.

The four poachers were arrested from Dankari village in Jajpur district and produced before the court today, said Bairee Forester Bijay Kumar Mohanty. Hide, flesh and teeth of a wild boar animal traps and sharp weapons were seized from them, he said.

The arrested were identified as Bipin Behari Malik (34), Ajaya Kumar Malik (33), Kuna Malik (35) and Tima Dehury (40), all of them belonging to Dankari village.

Mohanty said the arrested persons had killed a boar in Dankari forest and sold its meat to the locals on Thursday. Raids were conducted in the houses of the accused today after the boar poaching incident came to light, he added.
