Girl spends two days with mother’s body inside house in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: In a heart-wrenching incident, a three-year-old girl spent two days with her mother’s body inside a house without realising about the death of the woman at Sagarpada under Town police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district.

As the matter came to fore this morning, the local Child Welfare Committee and Childline members reached the place and rescued the girl.

Police have recovered the body of the woman and sent it for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of the death.

According to reports, deceased Kuni Nayak was abandoned by her parents and in-laws. She used to work as a domestic help in the locality and resided with her daughter in the house.

The girl today informed the neighbours that insects were coming out of her mother’s mouth. They soon rushed to the room and found the woman lying dead. Foul smell was also emanating from the house.

The girl was sleeping next to her mother during the last two days thinking that the woman had fallen asleep, reports said.
