Heat wave back to torment Odisha; Titlagarh boils at 43.5

After a week of fluctuating temperatures in most parts of Odisha due to rain and thunder showers in some places, temperature soared up alarmingly in most parts of the state today with eight places recording over 40 degree Celsius.

heat-waveWhile Titlagarh was the hottest place in the state with 43.5 degrees, temperature crossed the 40 degree mark in Bhubaneswar (40.4), Jharsuguda (41.6), Sambalpur (43), Hirakud  (43), Bhawanipatna (41.7), Bolangir (41.5) and Sonepur (40.6).

Besides, the mercury hovered around 40 degrees in Angul (39.7), Sundargarh (39.5), Talcher (39.8), Phulbani (38.1) and Malkangiri (39).

A Met release this evening said though there is possibility of rain and thunder shower at some places in coastal and interior districts in the next 48 hours, the heat wave would intensify further in Odisha in the next seven days from May 22.
