Heat wave likely to subside in Odisha from tomorrow

The local Met office has predicted a sharp fall in temperature in Odisha from tomorrow.

A weather bulletin released this evening said a cyclonic circulation has been formed over sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and its adjoining area while a well-marked trough line has been formed from Sikkim across Telangana.

Under its influence, thunder squall, accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 70 kmph, may occur at one or two places in coastal and interior Odisha in the next 24 hours. The condition would continue for four days till April 27 after which there would be gradual increase in temperature in the state, the release added.

“Temperature is most likely to fall by 4-5 degrees in Odisha up to April 27,” Dr Sarat Sahu, Director, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, told the media today.

The state has witnessed an intense heat wave since last week due to blowing of north-westerly wind.

Meanwhile, temperature recorded till 5.30 PM today was highest in Angul at 42.1 degree Celsius.

Besides, 11 places where temperature remained at 40 degrees and above were Bhubaneswar (40.4), Jharsuguda (41.4), Sambalpur (40.1), Sundargarh (41.5), Hirakud (40.4), Talcher (41.5), Bhawanipatna (41.2), Bolangir (41.5), Titilagarh (41), Malkangiri (41) and Sonepur (41.8).
