College student among 3 mowed down by truck on NH-55 in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A truck reportedly mowed down three youth including a college student at the Panchamahala area on the National Highway (NH)-55 in Angul district of Odisha today.

The deceased persons were identified as Rupa Dehury (48), Rajendra Pradhan (22) and Subrat Pradhan (17), all from Derjang village.

According to reports, the three persons were traveling on a motorcycle to Angul market for some work in the morning. A speeding truck bearing the Reg No. MP-09-HH-8276 hit the motorcycle from behind near Panchamahala and dragged the trio for some distance, killing them on the spot.

Reports said that Rupa and Rajendra were fish traders and Subrat traveled with them on the motorcycle to attend a coaching class.

Reacting to the incident, the locals staged a blockade on the NH demanding compensation for the deceased persons’ families.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and seized the truck.
