Huge hike in fees for CHSE certificate, mark-sheet

In order to tide over its poor financial condition, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has decided to increase the fees for all Plus Two certificates and mark-sheets by four to seven times.

In a notification on Tuesday, the Council said the students will be able to get their certificates and mark-sheets by paying the revised fee at its office counter.

According to the notification, the students seeking a copy of the original certificate would have to pay Rs 1000 as against the old fee amount of Rs 150.

Students applying for a copy of their original mark-sheets will have to pay Rs 100 instead of Rs 25 they were paying earlier.

For emergency delivery of a copy of the original mark-sheet, the revised fee has been fixed at Rs 150 as against Rs 35.

The Council has decided to issue a maximum of 10 mark-sheets per day.

Besides, students who were paying Rs 25 for a provisional certificate will now have to pay Rs 100. For the emergency issue of provisional certificate, they will have to pay Rs 150 instead of Rs 35 charged earlier.

The Council will now issue a maximum of five provisional certificates per day.

This apart, for verification of certificates and mark-sheets the Council would collect Rs 100 per applicant instead of the old rate of Rs 40.

Besides, the students, who had failed to collect their certificates from their respective colleges, which were subsequently returned to the Council, will now have to pay Rs 300 to get their certificate in the first year.

If a student fails to obtain his certificate within one year of passing the annual examination, he/she has to pay an extra Rs 100 as late fee.

Talking to OST, CHSE chairman Prof Basudeb Chhatoi said the Council has taken a decision in this regard at its executive committee meeting on October 10 last year to improve its financial condition.

“The surplus money collected from the above heads would be utilized for the infrastructure development of the Council, management of examinations and salary and pension of its staff”, he added.
