Odisha Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 28% of MP candidates have criminal cases

Bhubaneswar: While 64 MP candidates are in the fray for the third phase of Lok Sabha Elections in Odisha, 18 of them (28%) have declared criminal cases, a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) said.

As many as 13 candidates have serious criminal cases. While four candidates have attempt to murder cases against them, cases related to crime against women are pending against four candidates. Similarly, one of the candidates has murder case.

Below is list of party-wise number of candidates with criminal cases.

Syed Yashir Nawaz, Congress’ Bhubaneswar MP candidate, has the highest number of criminal cases among the candidates.
