The CPI today expelled its sitting MP from Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha constituency Bibhu Tarai from the party.

Tarai was expelled from the party for anti-party activities, said party’s Odisha unit secretary Dibakar Nayak.

“It was found that Tarai had been hobnobbing with BJD even after being re-nominated by CPI from his home constituency this time,” Nayak said.

Veteran CPI leader AB Bardhan had on March 13 announced his name for the Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat.

On March 15, the party had  suspended its sitting MLA from Chhatrapur Adikanda Sethi, who later joined the BJD, for violating party discipline.
