Labour Office clerk caught red-handed taking bribe in Odisha

Bhadrak: A Junior Clerk working at the District Labour Office, Bhadrak was today arrested by Odisha Vigilance for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 9,000.

According to reports, accused Sudhakar Barik had demanded the amount from Akshaya Kumar Das, managing partner, M/s Bhawani Security Agency, Basantia Gram Panchayat in the district  in order to renew labour licence in favour of the security agency.

Das lodged a complaint in this regard with the anti-corruption agency, following which a trap was laid by the Vigilance sleuths and the clerk was caught red-handed while receiving the money from the complainant.

The amount has been recovered from the possession of accused and seized. A case has been registered in this connection while further investigation was underway.
