Bhubaneswar, Jul 10:

In the face of Kandhamal shootout yesterday and the attack on the convoy of Union Minister Santosh Gangwar during his tour to Bargarh on June 24, Odisha unit of BJP today flayed the BJD led State Government over the deteriorating law and order situation of the state.

Both these incidents took place because of the failure of the state police and its intelligence wing that operate under the Home Department supervised by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said BJP Odisha President Basant Panda speaking to reporters after the two-phase district and state level office bearers meeting of Odisha BJP today.

He also criticized the government for promoting the deputy SP who was incharge of the security arrangements for Gangwar’s tour instead of taking action against him and said that people have lost hope on the RDC enquiry and Commissions.

Interestingly, NBS Rajput — the RDC who started the investigation into the Gangwar attack incident – has been transferred and been made the new Commissioner of Land Records and Settlement Commissioner.

“The poor tribals were brutally murdered. This reflects the ultimate failure of the law and order situation in the state. The culprit DSP of Bargarh has been promoted by the government and it proves that they use officials meant to upkeep law and order in party works. It is deplorable,” said Panda.

He further hinted that BJP would take to the streets to highlight issues such as failing law and order situation, NFSA irregularity among others in the coming days. Party’s Odisha in-charge Arun Singh yesterday hinted at large demonstrations across the state through August and September to counter BJD’s ‘Central neglect’ allegations.

Biju Janata Dal, on the other hand, brushed off the allegations.

“It is our sole aim to serve the people of Odisha and take the state in the path of progress. If any party is not able to digest this, it their internal issue. We have nothing more to say on it, said BJD General Secretary and Law Minister Arun Sahoo.
