Locals thrash headmaster, peon in Odisha school. Here’s why

Betanati: Irate locals thrashed a headmaster and a peon of the Panchapalli High School for allegedly misbehaving with a tribal girl student here in Mayurbhanj district today.

Hundreds of villagers entered into the school premises and fastened the headmaster and peon with muffler they wore and started beating up without mercy.

The incident was reported from the 100-bed SC residential school at Hatipatuka under Betanati block.

According to reports, the peon of the school identified as Rabindra Sahoo had allegedly misbehaved with a class VIII girl student on Saturday.

Tension gripped the area after the school opened in the morning today. Despite the deployment of security forces, the villagers barged into the school gate and attacked the headmaster and peon with shoes.

Police rescued Rabindra and detained him for interrogation into allegation leveled by the locals.

The locals later staged road blockade in front of the school protesting misbehaviour with the girl student.
