Malkangiri student drowning: Action taken against sevashram staff

Malkangiri: Taking strong action against staff of Gangala Sevashram in Odisha’s Malkangiri, a student of which had drowned yesterday, the district administration suspended three staffers and dismissed two others.

The headmaster of the residential school, an assistant teacher and matron have been placed under suspension, while two cooks were dismissed.

A class-I student of the sevashram, identified as Amit Kalekura, had yesterday drowned in a pond. It was alleged that the incident occurred due to negligence on the part of the staff of the residential school.
