Mamita Meher murder case: PIL filed in Odisha HC

Cuttack: In another development in sensational murder case of schoolteacher Mamita Meher, a PIL was filed by a social organisation in the Orissa High Court for fair probe into the case.

Bharatiya Bikash Parishad moved the High Court and filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking CBI investigation and Rs 50 lakh compensation for deceased schoolteacher.

Total nine parties including DGP Abhay and Balangir SP have been made as respondents in the PIL.

Meanwhile, Odisha State Commission for Women has served a notice to SPs of Balangir and Kalahandi districts asking them to submit probe report on Mamita Meher murder case within 15 days.

Mamita Meher, a teacher of the Sunshine Public School, Mahaling, was brutally killed on October 8.

Balangir Police has arrested Govind Sahu, the prime accused in the case. He is accused of killing the 24-year-old schoolteacher in a car while the duo was returning to school from Bhawanipatna.

Reports said that Mamita’s body was chopped into pieces and burnt before dumping in the ground.
