Man axes son to death

Agra, July 26 :

A man axed his son to death in a village, 25 km from here, on Saturday.

Police said the deceased was an auto driver in Delhi and and had come to Gadi Sampda village in Etmadpur tehsil only three days ago.

Accused Rajvir said he did not regret his act as his son Pushpendra was a gambler and was compelling the former to sell his three-bigha agricultural land.

The accused is in police custody.

A violent fight had ensued between father and son Friday night after Rajvir refused to listen to Pushpendra’s demand to sell the land.

Rajvir woke up early Saturday morning and axed Pushpendra to death while the latter was asleep.

Rajvir told police he had to support a family comprising two sons and a daughter. “If I sold off the land and gave him (Pushpendra) the money, he would have squandered away everything in gambling,” he said.
