Man shot dead, dhaba owner injured in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A man was shot dead while a dhaba owner sustained bullet injuries at Malda Dharmakanta in Koida block of Odisha’s Sundargarh district, last night.

According to reports, five miscreants fired 4-6 rounds of bullets at Ramesh Chatamba, owner of a dhaba, and his associate Ram Purti.

Both sustained bullet injuries and fell unconscious on the spot. The attackers fled the place after committing the act.

Locals rescued the two victims and rushed the duo to Joda Hospital, where Ram was declared dead. As Ramesh’s condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Koida police have started an investigation into the incident.

Though the reason behind the firing was yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the attack was a fallout of a dispute over iron ore theft.

The incident has left the locals panic-stricken.
