Met dept predicts extremely heavy rains in north and south Odisha

Rain/thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha during next 48 hours under the influence of a low pressure formed today over North Bay of Bengal, the afternoon bulletin issued by the Met Centre here said.

The bulletin has also warned of extremely heavy fall with heavy to very heavy rainfall over isolated parts in North Odisha and heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over South Odisha during next 24 hours.

Gusty surface wind reaching the speed of 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 60 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha Coast, it said.

” Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha today,” the bulletin informed.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea
