‘My son was murdered by his friends’: Odisha senior journalist Navin Das

Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist Navin Das made a startling revelation about death mystery of his son Manish Anurag terming it as a ‘murder’.

“My son was murdered by his friends,” Das alleged while sharing details about the incident through a programme titled ‘Nirbhay Gumara Katha’ on YouTube today.

He revealed that his friends invited his elder son for a feast on Saturday night and killed him.

“I have lost my elder son. His wedding was scheduled for next month. Sadly, his friends murdered him on pretext of taking him for a feast,” said a grieving father adding, “It’s very painful to lose a child at this age.”

Nirbhay Editor said that he had received phone call from his son Manish Anurag alias ‘Guddu’ for the last time in the wee hours of Sunday.

“I had received my son’s last call at 4.11 AM on Sunday when he said that his friends were assaulting him,” Das said.

“His voice will reverberate in my mind for a long time,” he added.

The veteran media person said that he has utmost trust upon the police and law that the culprits involved in the incident will be caught.

“The Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi has given me assurance to bring all culprits to fore and widen path for justice. As a father I have utmost faith on the police and the system,” Das said.

He expressed his gratitude to viewers and readers of his newspaper for heartfelt condolences on untimely demise of his son.

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has sealed Hotel South City where Manish had visited along with his friends before his death.

Manish Anurag (30), the Managing Director (MD) of Nirbhay Publication, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Sunday. His body was found in a village pond at Patrapada under Tomando police limits on outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Earlier in the day, Das had lodged a missing complaint at the Infocity Police Station. During preliminary probe, the police traced mobile phone of Manish to Patrapada location. They contacted Tomando Police and sought assistance in finding out the young media personality.

On receiving information from locals about youth’s body in a pond, Tomando Police reached the spot and informed to the Infocity Police.

Later, Das and senior police officials including Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash rushed to the site and identified the body.
