Naveen dedicates medical college in Odisha’s Koraput

Jeypore: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput which would benefit the people of tribal-dominated district and adjoining areas.

After over 50 years, the state is getting a government medical college and hospital.

While 100 MBBS students have taken admission in the first year, the classes will commence from tomorrow coinciding with Teacher’s Day. As many as 22 professors and 28 assistant professors have been recruited at the institute to impart education.

With the functioning of the outdoor, casualty and other facilities, people from Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and adjoining districts will be benefitted.

Apart from Chief Minister, state Health Minister Pratap Jena, SC and ST Affairs Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, MP Jhinna Hikaka and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Notably, Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district is scheduled to be inaugurated on Wednesday.
