Odisha BJP prez Basant Panda threatened at ‘gunpoint’ in party office

Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP unit president Basant Panda was today threatened by two youths at gunpoint in party headquarters here.

The duo, identified as Pinak Mohanty and Sambit Panda of Barang area here, who claimed themselves as BJP party workers, entered the office and threatened Basant Panda showing him two guns. However, speaking to media persons, one of them said that it was a toy gun.

Police soon detained the two for interrogation and later arrested them.

In his reaction over the incident, Basant Panda said, “The two youths had come to the office yesterday seeking help for treatment of one of their kin. I had told them to come with concerned documents. However, they came today and threatened me with two guns without holding discussion about the help they had sought earlier”

Panda also said the two are not BJP workers, in contradiction to what they were claiming. Someone might have staged the whole act intentionally, he added.
