Odisha chit fund scam: CBI carry out late night raids

The CBI officials conducted simultaneous raids on the houses of three accused in the Odisha chit fund scam in Bhubaneswar in the late night hours on Sunday.

According to reports, late in the night on Sunday, a team of Central intelligence officials broke open the lock of a branch office of the AT Group at Chandrasekharpur and collected incriminating documents pertaining to the business of the chit fund company from 2009 to 2010.

Another CBI team raided the house of PK Swain, a former employee of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) at Patia area.

Swain, who was in charge of verification of purchase and sale of land, had allegedly assisted the AT group in the purchase of land and flats. He had quit the job 4-5 years ago, sources in the CBI said.

A third CBI team  raided the office and house of a builder in the Infocity area, reports said. The builder was involved in a joint venture with the AT Group.

However, the CBI did not reveal his name.
