Odisha CM expresses happiness over Sun Temple motif in Rs 10 note

Bhubaneswar: Expressing happiness over Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s announcement of featuring Konark Wheel in Rs 10 denomination notes, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today congratulated the national bank.

The CM felt proud to see rich cultural heritage of Odisha found place in the country’s currency.

Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, Patnaik wrote: “Filled with pride that the rich cultural heritage of #Odisha finds place in Nation’s currency. #Konark Wheel, the timeless symbol of our art and sculpture, is depicted in the new Rs 10 currency note. Congratulate @RBI for incorporating the world famous Sun Temple motif in the note.”

Minutes after the tweet, the post received 120 retweets, 554 likes and 22 comments till the filing of the report.

Notably, the Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 10 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signature of Dr. Urjit R. Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, said a RBI press release yesterday.

However, all the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.
