Odisha CM welcomes Ukraine-returned students from State at airport

Bhubaneswar: As many as 77 Odia medical students studying in Ukrainian universities returned to the State today safely due to the help provided by the Odisha government.

A special flight carrying the Odia students and sponsored by the State government departed from the New Delhi Airport and reached the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 5:30 PM.

In order to evacuate the stranded Indian students from war-torn Ukraine to safer places, the Odisha government had arranged two buses with the help of its connections. After that, they returned to New Delhi by special flight engaged under Operation Ganga.

Today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accompanied by parents of the Odia students welcomed the Ukraine-returned students at the airport. He assured the Odia medical students that all possible efforts will be made to ensure their study does not get affected following the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.

Yesterday, the Chief Minister wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to intervene so that study of Ukraine-returned medical students from India does not get affected.

Patnaik also assured the Odisha government’s full support to ensure continuance of study of the medical students.
