Odisha: Excise officials beaten up by locals during raid

Balasore: An ASI and four officials of Excise team were allegedly thrashed by locals of Jhadeswarpur slum in Jaleswar of Balasore district when the officials had gone to the locality for a raid.

Acting on a tip-off about brown sugar trade, the Excise team headed by an ASI had gone to the slum to conduct a raid. However, some locals detained the sleuths and thrashed them.

Later, police rushed to the spot and rescued the officials from the villagers’ clutch.
