Odisha : Flesh trade racket busted, 3 arrested

Bhubaneswar, June 26:

The Commissionerate Police in Odidha today raided the house of one Bijay Kumar Parida of Mahabhoi Sasan in Sisupalagarh under Lingaraj police limits here and arrested him, along with one ‘customer’ and a lady, for allegedly running a flesh trade racket.

According to the inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Lingaraj police station Bikram Keshari Jena, acting on a tip off, he along with a team raided the house of Parida at Mahabhoi Sasan this evening where he along with a young woman from the Jatni area was running a prostitution racket. He said Parida and the young woman were getting women from different parts of the state and even outside and using them for the illegal business.

The police arrested Parida, his lady partner and Moharana and booked them under sections 3/4/5/6 of Immoral Traffic Prevention (ITP) Act-1956.

At the same time, the police team have rescued two young girls from West Bengal, who were engaged in flesh trade. The girls will be sent to a short stay home in the city, the IIC added.

The accused persons will be forwarded to the local court tomorrow.
