Odisha girl abducted on pretext of marriage rescued from UP

Boudh: A 14-year-old minor girl, who was kidnapped on the pretext of marriage from her home in Odisha, was rescued from Uttar Pradesh after 70 days.

According to police sources, the victim under Manmunda police limits of Boudh district was allegedly sold in Rajasthan for Rs 1.5 lakh.

Sources said that the minor girl had a love affair with a youth namely Bimal Sethi of Digi Village. The beau on May 30 had abducted her from her residence on the pretext of marriage. The couple stayed for a night at Sindal village in Sonepur district. Next morning, they along with another girl went to Balangir railway station and boarded a train to Rajasthan, where Bimal sold the minor girl to a person namely Dillip Singh of Balda village for Rs 1.5 lakh. The girl went through tough days as Singh allegedly assaulted her physically and mentally.

However, the victim escaped from saving her life. With help of a guy Pintu Choudhary she managed to call her brother on Aug 3. The brother of the minor requested Choudhary to bring her sister back to Bhubaneswar. Later, father of the victim informed about the call to Manmunda police seeking rescue of his daughter.

Acting on the information, a team of 7-police personnel went to Rajasthan on Aug 4. In Allahabad where Pintu was on his way with the girl to Bhubaneswar, the police reached the spot and managed to rescue the victim.
