Odisha Govt extends distribution of additional rice for 4 months more under SFSS

Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, Odisha Government has extended distribution of additional rice to beneficiaries of the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) for four months more till March next year.

As per the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, each beneficiary of the scheme will get additional 5 kg rice from the allotment month of December 2021 to March 2022. This will benefit as many as 2, 88, 528 families comprising 9, 15, 532 members covered under the SFSS.

For this purpose, 4,578 tonne rice will be supplied every month totaling 18,310.640 tonne rice from the state pool. The state Government will spend Rs 68.13 crore more from the its own fund for the same, said the Chief Minister’s Office in a release.
